December Session

Pub room was full.
Loads of squeeze boxes , but who cares? 4 fiddles too I believe and a clarinet, and Lee had his electric base which added a certain something. Thanks Lee, bring it again.

We played quite a lot of Playford , which seems to have gone down well. ( I m a bit partial to Playford)
Seems to be quite a lot of the dreaded Norovirus doing the rounds of the folk community in Sheffield at the moment, but luckily no one was taken ill during the session.....

November Session

Well, we had a brilliant session last night- some cracking tunes, and some old comers too, probably prompted by me finally putting an e mail list together. More of that later- we also had some trouble with the car park opposite- ADVICE… Do not park there any more, as it is now private and is sending a jobsworth round to slap tickets on cars despite poor/absent signage etc etc. Thanks to Geoff, I have been pointed to this website:
which has a lot of stuff about what to do when fined by these private companies.
Nice to see the return of Ian and Charlie, who were real regulars in the early days of the Kelham Tunes Session, and  a visit from Diane with her red box. Visitors from Holmfirth and Whitby!
Lots of lovely tunes , and brilliant that other people kept leading them whilst I was busy in the car park. At one point we had seven melodeons!
I took some pictures, and will find time to put them up soon….

See you next month (2nd Dec), Valx

October Session...

Great session this month! Wall to wall tunes, and another visitor from afar. This time, even furthe,r as we welcomed Paul Morris from Canada, and learnt from him tha t a collection of melodeons is known s a "Migraine" of melodeons....We certainly had that.

Thanks Paul for playing some different stuff, and being so enthusiastic!
I personally was pleased to reintroduce "Mounthills" into my repertoire (Thanks Simon). Darren led one of my fave tunes, "Albert Farmers Bonfire tune" as we are getting to THAT time of year again.

Next session is as usual, the first Sunday (in November) I believe its the 4th, so get practicing Albert Farmer chaps

September Session

A very good night was had this month with a friend coming from as far away as Eastbourne to be with us - lovely to see you Derek, hope you will join us again! A fine chap called Stuart came and played a wicked rhythm guitar - hope to hear some of those country songs you mentioned at some time :-)

A fair few singers and songs - Dirty Blackleg Miner, Raggle Taggle Gypsies and a splendid rendition of John Barleycorn to the tune of Dives and Lazarus.

Well done all - some new tunes have been added to the list, as always please email any contributions (tunes, dots, links, abc's) that you'd like to see included here to paulcnewman@gmail.com.

We hope to see you at Val's next English Tune Session on Sunday the 7th of October.

TTFN!
